Abstract
High voltage pulse power sources have been widely used in electrostatic precipitation, gas discharge, controlled nuclear fusion and other applications of pulse power technology. In some Tokamak experimental devices, the high voltage power supply is needed to add DC energy into the auxiliary heating system. Therefore, the requirements of pulse width, dynamic response time, full turn-off time and less-stored energy release during protection of high voltage pulse power sources need to be greatly improved. Through investigations and comparisons, these requirements can be improved by using a high voltage pulse power supplies based on pulse step modulation series technology as a high voltage power supply of auxiliary heating system. This kind of power supply uses many switching power supply in series to control its high voltage output through sequential control. This paper focuses on the development of its separate switching power supply, emphasizing on the adjustment of its driving and output waveforms to meet the needs of series modulation.
